Kate (Katharine) McCormick is devoted to system-wide thinking about social impact. She brings extensive background working in various social justice sectors managing projects, advancing work in partnerships, and thinking strategically about scale, to the food systems space. Prior to joining New Venture Advisors, Kate worked with cities, states, and a multitude of other partners to develop, pass, and implement clean energy policy across the country as an analyst, City Engagement Manager, and Director at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).
An Iowa native, and after stints in Philadelphia, the Bay Area, Washington, DC, and Chile, Kate now calls Chicago home. In addition to a BA in comparative literature from the University of Pennsylvania, and giving proof to a lifelong passion for learning, she has an MA in Latin American Studies and a Master’s of Public Policy from Stanford University, and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
